Lord, Show Me Your Green Pastures is PERFECT for the mamas (and daughters) of faith. It would be cool for both to read and get inspired 🙏🏾💚

“As for me and my house…” applies to EVERYBODY, because Lord knows the prayers of many righteous folks brought our girl home. 🙏🏾😉

Now that I have your attention, I want to share something a little more personal.

All week, I have felt a little melancholy. A little down. I know for some, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ may feel like a Bible story, but I take it personally.

This week has reminded me of how I feel around the anniversary of my dad’s passing. There is a lingering sadness that comes with it.

And not being able to do my usual family traditions makes it all feel even heavier.

But today, seeing Kaolin playing in her shirt and reading those words over and over again, “He is risen,” reminded me of something: There is still joy.

The story did not end at the crucifixion. And even in my own life, when dreams die, things feel hopeless or like I am missing out, joy is still available.

That is my prayer for all of us today, that even when grief lingers and traditions change or fade, we would still find our way back to the power, the peace, and the joy of a risen Savior. That’s the whole point, after all. ❤️

The invitation to follow Jesus remains—even after you wander off track, stay a little too long in one spot or try to rush ahead sometimes. Ahhh, this is that everlasting love, redemptive grace that exceeds understanding.

In the beginning, Jesus asked Peter to follow him. In the end, he makes the same request.

Every single moment, we have the chance to say yes to following Jesus instead of our own plans, society’s expectations or the temptation of some false idol.

When God calls you, you have to be very, very careful in how you judge yourself.

God says go and you basically say, “I’m not good enough.”

What you need to know is with God, you are GOOD to go!!

We can be so fixated on the failures of today or the mistakes of the past that we miss the future plans God is preparing us for.

When in doubt—of yourself, your ability, your knowledge, your talents, your strength—trust God.

Trust that God would not choose you to do anything alone or go on a journey without leading you and equipping you!

Some conversations do more than pass the time. They stick with you, teach you some things...

You may not even realize their power or meaning until days, months, or years later.

Some of the sweetest conversations I’ve had have been with my mother, on front porches, in quiet moments, and in the middle of ordinary days that somehow made room for reflection, laughter, and truth.

There is something special about slowing down long enough to talk, remember, and listen for what God may be saying.

Next week, I’ll be sharing something new that grew out of conversations like these, and I’m really looking forward to inviting you in. I CANNOT wait!!!

When people question and critique in order to disrupt my work, I tell them they have to take that to God in prayer, cause I don’t even know how I got here either, except divine leadership. 🥴

I used to attempt to prove I belonged where I found myself — on bookshelves, stages, in pulpits, at the table alongside CEOs and millionaires, in the room with governors and political leaders…

I would prepare so hard to ensure I didn’t make a fool of myself, my family, my community. I would chase and tout credentials. What a waste of energy, time and talent.

These days, I quite enjoy people wondering, “What in the world is she doing here?” or “What makes her think she can do/say that?” 😂😂😂

Me: Let me tell you about the God I serve! 🙌🏾

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. ~Luke 9:23

Denying yourself is not limited to sin and “bad” stuff. It includes “good” acts, efforts, and desires.

The life you imagined for yourself or your family was GOOD yet different experiences unfolded and set you on an unexpected journey…

Part of your cross-bearing is surrendering that life and accepting and following the path God has placed you on. It may be uncomfortable, uncommon, and uncertain but you continue to FOLLOW your leader.

This is not necessarily easy, but it is necessary.

It is also not a one-time decision—each day is a choice! Am I the lord of my life or is Jesus leading? Am I following the patterns of this world, of others or the purpose of my Savior?

The answer might surprise you and you must develop the humility to recognize when pride has convinced you that you know better than God.

Is it me, or does the world feel extra shaky? 🥴😩 Off balance? Like what I THOUGHT would happen is the complete opposite of what IS happening in both the world and the Church.

We are experiencing earthquakes and tremors in life—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and culturally.

I am glad I can hold onto hope and the hand of my Lord. I know I would fall down and not have the strength to keep getting up, to keep trying, to keep going.

Decades ago, a glimpse of glory caught my attention and affection, so despite the current pain, hurt, and disappointments, I press on “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

“This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of what is shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe,”

~Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

Amen! 🙏🏾 ❤️

Purposeful Prayers becoming a top-ranked book, including reaching #3 on Amazon, is not just a milestone. It’s a reminder that people are hungry for more than inspiration. They want alignment. They want direction. They want to live on purpose.

This book was written to help people slow down, listen closely, and pray with intention, not chasing outcomes, but becoming who God is shaping them to be.

So thank you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for trusting me with your time, your faith, and your questions. Thank you for allowing me to speak, teach, and walk alongside you as we learn to pray and live on purpose.

This success belongs to all of us who believe purpose is not accidental and prayer is not passive.
